about

Headphone listening recommended.

Remarkably, Douglas and John improvised this music in one take on November 4, 2022.

"We finished the improvisation, sat back, listened, and were stunned: we had created a symphony in one movement in one take." - John Oliver

"It would take me months to write out a piece like that for orchestra." - Douglas Schmidt

Symphony No. 1 is intended to be heard as a single listening experience. Nevertheless, we provide five parts as individual tracks so listeners can "sample" the different "movements" of the symphony. If you buy the whole album, you get the "bonus track," which is the entire symphony as one track.

Our "symphony" shares the form and vastness of romantic orchestral music, but is inspired by the initial meaning from ancient Greek: "concord of sound."
