SYNPROV (for JA)

from Time Capsule by John Oliver

/

about

Pulses, waves, drones, all created in an improvised session one day in February 1983 at the Synclavier 1 studio at McGill University, and subsequently decorated and touched up using the SCRIPT program. Inspired by the early minimal music of my first teacher, John Adams, and dedicated to him, the voyage away from and return to the opening repeated note creates a long arch over the piece, which consists of three connected ‘movements’, the traditional fast-slow-fast.
