I dedicate this track to the memory of Canadian composer Jocelyn Morlock, who passed away in March 2023. Her playful spirit infused much of her music and personality. We shared a love of birds, ancient music, and play. In music, this translates into play with musical materials and form. Rest in peace, Jocelyn.

Birds repeat their calls incessantly in the spring. It is that atmosphere with which I play in "For the Birds." I created this track in one take, as with the rest of the music on this album. I set up my sonic playground, which consisted of granular synthesis processing and a 4-pole filter, played an ocarina into the system, and then played with it.
