Remembrance Day is a day to remember those who died in war. The day after is the day to say NO MORE.

I improvised this music using my ENNER synthesizer a few days ago, then realized it reflects the darkness of our time, when wars are being waged against innocents. I did not set out to "depict" anything, but couldn't help but feel that what I created in sound was an even worse nightmare of the tragedy than any of us would actually ever hear. It is somewhat like a short Threnody. Rather than create little ditties and try to ignore the horrible reality, I believe it is more responsible to create art works of mourning, of empathy, works that intend to create a time of reflection for those who feel helpless to intervene. I cannot possibly claim to "represent" those who are suffering. I imagine their grief has no music.

I hope this music may strengthen our collective resolve to counter these genocidal acts with our own thoughts and deeds; that we insist that the innocents may see the light of day, rather than the fog of war.

I hear about the death of the innocents. I cannot bear to watch the images because I cannot erase them later. The images of the Holocaust disturbed me greatly as a child. I grew up dedicated to social justice. What is happening is not justice, it is revenge, the revenge of a leader who is embarrassed for being asleep at the wheel. Any "leader" who supports this violence is complicit. This is about "leaders" and their armies, and the industries that make it possible. Sane, compassionate people do not support it.

Remembrance Day should be a day to remember all victims of war, and perhaps especially those who did not enlist to put themselves in harm's way, the innocents.
